Summary: | This research is in the domain of Tourism Planning particularly refers to tourism
destination development. The area of Jayapura which includes the city of Jayapura
and Jayapura regency become the area of this research The goal of this research is
to determine the condition and quality of tourism destinations at Jayapura region and
to identify patterns of tourist visits.
Research data resource are obtained through observation, interviews, and
questionnaires to tourists in the form of respondent profile according to factual
tourism destinations condition, tourist perceptions of the destinations quality, tourist
expectations of a tourism attraction, also traffic patterns (how to make a visit, travel
routes, and expenditure). It also identified positions of Jayapura region in tourism
context of Papua.
This research concluded that from a three major factors of tourist interest which
include natural attractions, cultural and special interest, natural tourist attraction is
the most dominant reason for the tourist to visit the Jayapura region. This is because
many of destination choices are still natural and have a beautiful landscape. From
this research also known that tourists visiting characteristic is dominated by visiting
in groups, whereas travel routes are grouped into two routes which leading to and
leaving from the Jayapura region by air and sea, as well as routes between
destinations in the region of Jayapura. This research also concluded that an average
spending of tourist per day ranges between IDR 1000000-1500000. Furthermore,
also identified that the position of Jayapura in the context of tourism as an area of
Papua is a secondary destination. Strategic position and completeness of
transportation which provided by the Sentani International Airport and the Yos
Sudarso Port become supports for the Jayapura Tourism. |
