This study, entitled The Meaning tifain traditional dance music in the Sentani Lake Sentani Festival in 2010 in Jayapura district. The study departs from various tradition growing cultural phenomenon in Papua, especially in the area of Jayapura Sentani district. Jayapura district last few years have enthusiasm to continue to preserve the existence of cultural traditions. Preserve passion for culture is reflected in the tradition of one of them held the Lake Sentani Festival that has been started since 2008. In the Sentani Lake Sentani Festival is clearly seen how excited the community together to support cultural preservation. Tifa is an instrument that is always present in the tradition of events including the tifaare also critical issues related to Sentani Lake Sentani Festival. From the above it can be seen that the tifa has an important place in Sentani culture, including the Sentani Lake Sentani Festival. In this study uses a qualitative approach with a multidisciplinary approach, with the main approaches in the field of ethnomusicology and anthropology. The purpose of this study was to determine the significance of the presence of tifa in the Sentani Lake Sentani Festival and how to describe tifa ensemble music in the form of analysis in which patterns include rhythm, meter, tempo and melody. The results of this study are that (1) the presence of tifa becomes very important, because the presence of tifa showing the greatness of anondofolo/ondoafi, although each village has a different legend about the tifa. (2) that the presence of tifa becomes important because the tifaisa symbol of village identity. (3) although the dances from each village were impressed equal and monotonous, but differ between the village with one village to another, so that the presentation could not be done simultaneously, but alternately or sequentially. (4) success in the Sentani Lake Sentani Festival is determined by the number of dance groups taking part in the show on the Sentani Lake Sentani Festival .
