The existence of the local religion in Indonesia has many problems continuously, including its existence and its continuance. This is because of the position of the different local religion recognized by the state. Although Indo-nesia isn�t the religion state, but it is very difficult to distinguish between the state and the religion. The existence of the local religion faces accusation continuously following the state policy about religion that just recognizes six religions. Towani Tolotang is one of the local religions getting pressure, either structural or cultural pressure. The state policy about the formal religion has important impact of the existence of Towani Tolotang. Also the perception of the society about the existence of Towani Tolotang enabling its existence which is irrespective from the negative perception. This research is focused on the form and the impact caused by the state construction toward the religion in Indonesia where the policy just gives ad-vantage to the certain religion. The arrangements of the religion shows the real form of the state intervention of the religion. At this condition, the existence and the continuance of the local religions are in the threatening condition. The exis-tence of Towani Tolotang religion depends much on the state policy which even can destroy. So, it is important to see comprehensively about the affectivity of the state policy to avoid the back side impact from some policies threatening the existence of the local religions. This research uses qualitative data, although we find some data relating to digits, but very limited. So, the researcher directs more on the analysis of the qualitative data because it relates to the form and the impact of the state cons-truction the very difficult measured religion. The technique of data collecting used covers observation, intensive interview, and documentation study. The obtained data are analyzed then written. The method or the approach used in this research is how the state constructs the religion, so it faces pressures threatening the existence and continuance of the religion itself. The form of the state construction of the Towani Tolotang can be seen at two sides. First, the state has done preventive steps to limit, to control, and to conquer Towani Tolotang, so it can�t develop and survive well. Second, the state has done protection toward Towani Tolotang with some policies, including the religion affiliation. Structurally, Towani Tolotang has been the part of Hindu. It means that it has obtained legislation from the state. This study shows that the impact arising from such state effort as is the rebellions even the resistance shown by the local religion, such as Towani Tolotang. Although Towani To-lotang is affiliated in to the Hindu, but at the level of the belief and the practice, it defends the doctrine of its ancestor heritage.
