Description
Summary:Natural dyes are now starting to grow because of the prohibition of the use of synthetic dyes containing azo. This study aims to determine the potential of Dalbergia latifolia, Manilkara kauki and Tectona grandis especially at the branch and twigs. These two parts of the plant are then extracted by boiling for one hour after boiled, after that the mordaned cloth has been dipped in dye solution four times and then were given materials with different concentrations of fixation. The results are then quality fabric dyes tested that include tests of colour fastness to acid perspiration, colour fatness to light and colour fatness to washing. The results showed that all parts of branch and twig of species contains tannin. Dye solution of Dalbergia latifolia yielded an average pH at the branch and the twig 7.052 and 5.75 respectively. The branch parts among all test of colour fastness to acid perspiration, colour fatness to light and colour fatness to washing yielded high score (4-5), however on the twig produced mid up to high score (3-5). The result of colour at the branch for fixation ferrosulfat is pink, fixation potash alum and calsium oxyde are pale yellow and at the twig ferrosulfat is brown, fixation potash alum and calsium oxyde are pink. Dye solution of Manilkara kauki yielded an average pH at the branch and the twig 6.856 and 6,036 respectively. The branch parts and twig among all test of colour fastness to acid perspiration, colour fatness to light and colour fatness to washing yielded mid up to high score (3,3-4, 4 and 5). The result of colour at the branch for fixation ferrosulfat is pink, fixation potash alum and calsium oxyde are pale yellow and at the twig ferrosulfat is dark grayish brown, fixation potash alum and calsium oxyde are light brown. Dye solution of Tectona grandis yielded an average pH at the branch and the twig 5.856 and 5,908 respectively. The branch parts among all test of colour fastness to acid perspiration, colour fatness to light and colour fatness to washing yielded high score (4,4-5 and 5), however on the twig produced mid up to high score 3,3-4,4 and 5). The result of colour at the branch for fixation ferrosulfat is pink, fixation potash alum and calsium oxyde are pale yellow and at the twig ferrosulfat is very pale brown, fixation potash alum and calsium oxyde are Light gray.
