This research aims to explore the housing debelopment in Ngaglik district, to determine the impact of residential development on water catchment area. The research also conducted to determine the policies and the efferctiveness of control policies on housing developments in catchment area, and to determine factors in mitigation of housing developments impact. The research method is a deductive method utilities qualitative and quantitative data. Data collection was done by primary and secondary data. Analytical techniques used are The Matrix Method of Fisher and Davies, Triangulation method. While mitigating factor used to determine the Corelation and Regression Method. The variables were water quantity, water quality, and ground quality. The variable related with the element of water catchment area. The research shows that from 2005 to 2009 there was a high growth of housing development in Ngaglik district. Most of the housing development were small scale and they are located in water catchment area. Most of the housing development are without green space. Because of that, housing development will have an impact of the watersheds that can�t function optimally. The reduction in water supply for own catchment area and the subordinates who caused the disruption of ecological systems in the region. Such development was caused by lack of effective control of the existing housing policy in Sleman Regency.
