This qualitative research adapt a case study design in understanding how the the Sambas Malay interpret their prejudice toward the Madurese after the riots in 1999 that involved both of tribes. Until this thesis made the Madurese can not return to the Sambas regency. The Respondent in this research is the Sambas Malays that used to live and interacted with Madurese in their daily life. Then a cross check is also done by the respondents of the Madurese who used to live in Sambas regency for confronted a view about both of Sambas Malays on Madurese. This research was conducted to explore how the meaning of prejudice the Malays Sambas toward Madurese after the riots in 1999, as well as how stereotypes and prejudice may arise in Sambas Malay, and what caused the Sambas Malays are still denied the presence of Madurese in Sambas regency so far. This effort will be seen from presfective realistic conflict theory and social identity theory. The results of research showed that the meaning of prejudice the Sambas Malays toward Madurese is the Sambas Malays is unable to accept the Madurese back, Sambas Malays worry the Madurese throwing a tantrum again, loyalty with other Sambas Malay people and Madurese could not adapt to local culture.
