ETD Introduction: In implant related infection, colonization of bacteria on implant surface is prerequisite factor. To counter this condition, implant surface modification has been developed, include surface coating using antimicrobial agent. Cinnamon oli and chitosan are biological product which have antimicrobial action against broadspectrum of bacteria and also considered to have positive effect on wound and bone healing. Methods: In-vitro experiment to assess antimicrobal activity of cinnamon oil loaded chitosan coating on stainless steel implant against Staphylococcus Epidermidis biofilm forming strain. Sample was devided into 7 group consist of 5 different consentration of cinnamon oli, chitosan coating only and control ( without coating). Evaluation of effective concentration of Cinnamon oli using brooth macrodilution technique (turbidity measurement, qualitative measurement) and Colony forming unit count after incubation (quantitative measurement). Result and discussion: In 3 concecutive experiment using macrodilution technique, Cinnamon consentration within 1% - 2% are efffective to prevent growth of S. Epidermidis (no turbidity formed). In quantitative measurement using colony forming count, using Kruskall-Wallis test, there is a significant different between groups ( sig 0.031, α=0,05) and also between cinnamon 2% with control (sig 0,047, α=0,05).
