Hum., ETD This research aims to identify the problems that occur in the process of mediation between the PT. Matarindo Kreasisarana with the workers and the protection of workers' basic rights due to layoffs in the mediation in Disnakersos Sleman district of Yogyakarta. This study empirically juridical relying on primary data as the primary data sources. Library research conducted to explain the data obtained from field research. The data from field research and literature were analyzed qualitatively. The data are presented descriptively analyzed. The results showed that the problems which is arise in layoff dispute between PT. Matarindo Kreasisarana with workers at the mediation is a debate about the layoffs and the rights that have accrued due to layoffs, the right amount and method of payment. The parties agreed to settle the debate by making the Collective Agreement. Settlement of disputes through mediation with the manufacture of the Collective Agreement at the stage of mediation does not protect workers' basic rights due to job cuts under the Employment Act No. 13 of 2003 on Employment.
