Summary:It is of importance to do a research on the pattern of Indis building location in Gorontalo in addition to its preservation strategy as Gorontalo has abundant resources of this type of building. Besides, there has been no any deep research on this matter before. The large number of Indis buildings in Gorontalo proves that Gorontalo has been an important site since Dutch colonial era. However, the Indis sites in Gorontalo faced some threatens as they were located in both commercial and economic site. Therefore, these buildings need to be preserved for their important historical, knowledge and culture values. This is an analytical descriptive research using inductive method. The objects of this research were the Indis buildings of Gorontalo. The research stages covered preparation, data collection, analysis, and conclusion. The data sources were gained through library research, field observation, and interviews. This research found that the condition of the Indis buildings in Gorontalo was mostly well preserved but they were also threatened by the development of the city. The fact that the Gorontalo people did not concern about the buildings was actually another threat. Besides, the dissemination of UUCB(Cultural Heritage Regulation) to the people, academician and stake holders was not conducted effectively.
