Description
Summary:Sexual education for adolescents to be one way to transfer all kinds of knowledge related to healthy sexuality, physical, psychological, and social order capable of preventing or reducing adolescent sexual abuse that have a negative impact. Parents as a source of information for a child's first sexual education should be delivered early and continuous. This study intends to find out the meaning of the parents towards sexual education for adolescent girls and how they implement these concepts. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive. This study uses the theory of social construction Berger and Luckmann and analysis of power Michel Foucault, with the presentation of the results and analysis of narrative. Informants in this study are grouped into key informants (community leaders) as much as two people, the key informants as many as 10 pairs of parents and 10 adolescents (girls from key informants) as an informant supporters. The results showed that the variation of meaning is affected by reserves of knowledge (stock of knowledge) that have each informant. The meanings of sex education, most of the skilled working class parents are limiting the meaning to something that can grow for teens terrified even one informant in this social class interpret it as a taboo and dangerous. Although the informants of social class is still limiting the meaning of sex education in being set apart in eliciting fear, but there has been a shift in resources to raise fears over the source of fear in which the logic of cause and effect on sexual behavior or religious spectacles. In the lower middle class family, meaning parents towards sex education is no longer constrained to give a sense of fear, but limited to the appearance of the responsibility to maintain the honor of their parents. While middle-class parents make sense of sexual education as something that can foster a sense of responsibility to keep the teenagers themselves. In the application, most of the skilled working class informants have less tendency to give their attention to the sexual problems of their children. Power relations are still strongly relies on parents as a center distance of the parents raise the child so that attention and a discussion of sexual issues with children is difficult to form. In the lower middle social classes, the implementation of sexual education based on the power of knowledge that are more productive and power relations that existed more spread out between parents and children so it is not always the foundation of the power lies in the elderly. In the middle class, power relations of parents with children who are no longer bring up the repressive atmosphere of the dialogue in the family. This encourages a form of attention and discussion of sexual problems than children who are more open to parents and vice versa.
