However, it is controversial about what constituting to teaching quality. This paper examined the perceptions of two key internal stakeholders, lecturers and students in English Department on the important criteria for the quality of teaching in Cambodian higher education. It also investigated the similarities and differences in the perceptions of these two groups of classroom practitioners. Semi-structured interviews were employed to collect data from six lecturers and 14 seniors in B.ED program. Data were analysed by thematic analysis method. The study found 24 teaching quality attributes: Input (entry requirements, lesson planning, and sufficient teaching facilities), Process (lecturers' characteristics, lecturers' qualifications, teaching experience, teaching strategies, the use of computer technology, class size, role of research, assessment for students, learning workload, students' supports, lecturers' supports, learning abilities, students' characteristics, learning styles, teaching environment, accuracy of curriculum content, teaching workload, teaching evaluation, academic policies for students, and learning strategies), and Output (learning outcome).enRoyal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP)Higher education qualityTeaching QualityPerceptions of Lecturers and Students on the Quality of Teaching in Cambodian Higher Education: A Case Study in English Department of One University in Phnom PenhThesis |
