As the students try to make a major or career choice during their high school, they face problem of matching the major and career with their ability, school performance and specific information from different sources. The purpose of this study was to examine: (a) the subjects that currently high school students want to study after their high school graduation (b) the reasons for choosing that subject (c) the individuals who influence the students in choosing that subject and (d)whether or not the students choose a career the same or similar to their parents'. The study was conducted by using a survey with the participants of 160 students who study in a private institution. The data of this study is collected by using the questionnaire with opening questions. The findings of the study indicated that the majority of high school students are interested in English Literature and Business management.The reasons the respondents select majors are because of their Personal interest, Ease of the future employment and the desire to help their family and society. While the individuals are involved in making the decision, the findings demonstrated that family and relatives are the most important factor influencing the students. In the trends in student career aspirations among student sample, the findings illustrated the figures, the percentage of fathers classified as professional accounted for nearly 12% however 30% of the students were aspiring to working in the professions.enRoyal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP)Choosing a major at after high schoolExploratory Research of Grade12 Students' Choices for Major at University StudyThesis
