Private universities have grown drastically for the last ten years. Recently, there has been up 27 private universities not including the branches of campuses of in the provinces. The dramatic growth of private universities in Cambodia has aroused positive and negative opinions among the public. This thesis explores the causes of the rapid growth of the students' enrollments in the private university in Cambodia and how they think of their personal educational experiences as private university students. Data collection was conducted through depth-interviews and surveys in three private universities in Phnom Penh. Nine key themes emerged related to private universities in Cambodia including nearer location, low price, quality of faculty, different time class schedules, modern school facilities, weak internal policies, family and friend influence and a little degree recognition. This study gives some directions for the future research about the role of private universities in Cambodia.enRoyal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP)HE policyPrivate university education developmentStudents' perception to private universitiesHE in private sectorsPrivate university educationStudents' perceptions toward private university in CambodiaThesis |
