Summary: | Since the Islamic conquest, Libya has been the sponsoring environment of science and
scientists. Its geographical location has provided it a unique status that helped in attracting
the attention of the elite scholars as well as its noticeable enterprising contribution to the
dissemination of Hadith shareef. However, having a deep glance of meditation throughout
the history of Libya can reveal to us that there was a prospering area through which Hadith
studies had significantly prospered all over the region. In the contrary, Libyan history had
unfortunately been faced by a very long predominating passive recession uprising from some
inhibitive causes. One of these causes, for example, was the suppressive Ubaidiyya state that
was stablished by its Jewish founder Ubiad in 297 AH which was remarkably characterized
with rigorous suppression against the citizens and scientists at that time. Therefore, the
present research investigates on the impacting role of the renegade Shiites in prohibiting
Hadith shareef and Sunnah studies of spread out in Libya, and how to get benefit from the
efforts of the scholars of the Sunnis in resisting them and to analyse their efforts' outcomes
applying them to our current situations. The present article concludes that the Ubaidiyya state
is itself the state of Shiites. They claimed their descent to Ali and, contradict ally, all their
beliefs are infidel. And during their governing period, the most of innovations and evils had
initiated, and most noticeable, the era of the most unjust periods experienced by Libyan
history had experienced its darkest area and injustice practices, and furthermore, faced
unbelievable invidious prejudice treatments that were caused by such Ubaidiyya state. this
research also revealed that Ubaidiyya state had committed a heinous crime against Libyan.
They exterminated most of Libyan Sunni scholars. More radically, they plundered money of
Libyan people unjustly and aggressively, burned the books of the Sunnis and slandered
shamefully the honorable companions of prophet Mohamed (peace upon him), and because
of them the science of Quran and Hadith was almost disappeared in Libya; the lighthouse of
the prospering Islamic science at that time. More fanatically, they prevented the scientists
from practicing the role of teaching sciences of hadith and dissemination of Sunnah knowledge among people in this region. Thus, the Ubaidiyya state and its shiits advocators
were the main reason in hampering the modern scientific movements. The senior opponent
who had frightened against this doctrine state in Tripoli was Abu al-Hasan Ibn al-Munmar.
Despite the efforts of the Rrawafid to fight Sunnis, they were unable to spread their doctrine
easily because of their suffering from the intensive objection and resistance they had been
facing with from scientists, particularly from the Al-hadith scholars. Then, at this point, they
had lost the battle and with rowed turning their eyes to the Orient, leaving Morocco region
and settled in Cairo. |
