Description
Summary:For distances up to a certain limit, transportation of fluids through pipelines is the most economical and fastest method, particularly for gases. However, pipelines are not immune from faults or malfunctions (leakage and blockage) that often lead to severe risks, including deaths, injuries, property damage, fuel wastage, and global warming. Pipe ageing, material or manufacturing defects, and external interference are the main reasons behind pipeline incident. For pipeline safety, several leak detection systems have been proposed in the past. However, there is still a need to improvise in terms of detection of small leakages in gas mixture pipelines under transient conditions. Thus, the objective of this research is to develop an improved leak detection system for gas mixture pipelines under transient conditions.
