Description
Summary:The main purpose of this project is to achieve a successful working prototype that is capable to detect the presence of gas leakage, which in this case, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The device should also perform automatic response with the implementation of an alarm system and the emergency shut down valve once the leakage has occurred and detected. The essential part of this project is to detect the occurrence of leakage and this is done by comparing the intensity difference of the infrared radiation. Once this condition is true, this will lead to the alarm triggering as well as activating the emergency shut down valve. Further research is especially done to comprehend in some infrared radiation detector knowledge, LPG characteristics, alarm and relay circuits. As a conclusion, this project has given the opportunity for students to integrate theories into solving the problems related with the engineering scope of work.
