Summary: | This research paper describes a development of Traditional Malay Dance Simulation
on Tarian Piring. The main focused of this project is to present an animated virtual
human or virtual dancer to replace the ordinary real dancer in performing the
traditional Malay dance ofTarian Piring. The objectives of this project are to provide
a virtual human as the virtual dancer, to map the traditional cloth onto the virtual
human body, to animate the virtual human, to apply collision detection and holding
techniques and to evaluate the simulation. The simulation is evaluated in terms of
realism of virtual human representation, realism of virtual human dance movement,
realism of holding or grasping the Piring object, resemblance of traditional cloth,
smoothness of cloth simulation, realism of virtual stage scene, application suitability,
application suitability and user acceptance. There are four essential phases involves
in this project, which are project initiation (requirement analysis and feasibility
study), preliminary information gathering (research and analysis of modeling,
animating and holding techniques), development (model and animate virtual human,
attach Piring (plate) object to the hands, map cloth to body, add audio and rendering)
and evaluation. The result for the realism of virtual human holds the Piring is the
highest percentage, which is 97%. The result shows that 64% of the respondents
agreed that the application is suitable for promoting the dance. Meanwhile, 84% of
the users have positive responds of accepting the application. In conclusion, this
project has met the objective through the suitable technique for modeling, animating,
cloth simulation, holding object and collision detection. |
