Description
Summary:With the latest development taking place in science and technology, and with the fast-paced events happening in the world, we sometimes tend to forget the real purpose of seeking knowledge and education in our lives. In addition, globalization which promotes the concept of a borderless world and a materialist lifestyle has also in a way contributed to the new mindset of people who think that education is just a passport for one to be affluent in the future. As a result of such an erroneous way of thinking, the idealism, wisdom and values that should have come along together through the process of learning and education have gone missing. The idea of an integrated and comprehensive education that caters for total human development is somehow neglected in many of the learning institutions in the world. As a result, today’s students miss some of the vital developments that should have been there in education that can bring out their individuality and give meaning to their lives. In looking into the present trend in education that gives much emphasis on intellectual development, the researchers of this qualitative study intend to emphasize the other philosophical and practical aspects of education in human life. Very particularly, the role of education that caters for spiritual, emotional, psychological, physical and social developments. Finally, the researchers also would like to explore the role of education in giving meaning to the lives of young people. Pertinent data for this research will be collected from print and internet sources. The researchers will employ textual and contextual analysis methods to analyze the study’s relevant data.
