Agro waste can be a good alternative in the producing carbon source raw materials in electrode preparation. This study aims to synthesize the durian waste as the alternative carbon electrode in the electric double layer capacitor (EDLC). Basically, durian agro waste will be synthesized and undergo carbonization at 500 °C for one hour. Different KOH molarity used to chemically activate the carbon with concentration variations of 0.2M, 0.4M, 0.6M, and 0.8M, followed with carbonization at 800 °C. The activated carbons are physically characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). More pores can be detected when higher molarity of KOH used. XRD results show a good amorphous structure which indicate presence of carbon. The performance of electrode was analyzed by Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) and Galvanostatic charge discharge (GCD). Electrode with 0.4M molarity has shown the highest specific capacitance with 48 Fg-1 Electroactive Materials Society 2022-12-29 Article PeerReviewed application/pdf en http://irep.iium.edu.my/105957/7/105957_Studies%20on%20durian%20peel%20biomass%20derived%20activated.pdf Hasbullah, Mohd Faiz Ikhwan and Mohamed Noor, Noraini (2022) Studies on durian peel biomass derived activated carbon for energy storage application.
