Description
Summary:Aluminum alloy 7075 has been widely utilized in the manufacturing of airplanes, building materials, consumer durables, electrical conductors, and food-processing equipment. During the manufacturing process of the products, large amounts of waste are produced in the form of chips and discards. Instead of disposing to land fill, this waste and scrap can be melted down, and some of the aluminum is recovered and reused in manufacturing processes. Recycling of the alloy is crucial for sustainability of energy, production and economy. However, the mechanical properties and performance of the recycled aluminum alloy may differ from the original alloy due to deformation and impurities introduced during the previous manufacturing process. This study aims to analyze the hardness and microstructure of Al 7075, which has been fabricated by recycling machining scraps using melting and casting techniques.
