We reviewed the basic concepts of artificial intelligence, the research done regarding our profession, discuss the limitation of this technology at the current state and list down the potentials for this technology in the future. In dentistry, convolutional neural network can help automate classification of visual data such as photographs and radiographs are a popular area of research and showed excellent results.
