Estimation of storm runoff peak is very essential for hydrologists, civil engineers, drainage design, water resources management and many other usages. Cost of the design and construction also depends on the accuracy of the estimation of peak flows. On the other hand, it is not easy to calculate the storm runoff peak flow with good reliability, as the accuracy depends on the types of data. The most commonly used Rational Method is already a century old method. The other methods are either old or catchment dependent. As such, there is a need to conduct more research to come up with new empirical methods that can take the advantage of internet of things (IoT), including the free information available in the digital media. The new method would also help design the drainage system more efficiently for the sustainable management of stormwater from urban and rural areas. Therefore, the main objective of this paper was to review the empirical equations published in the literature. More than 20 equations and methods are reported in various literature, many of them are suitable for specific catchment as those are developed based on the local data of those areas. The suitability, advantages and disadvantages of the equations and methods are also reviewed and commented in this paper. 2020-02 Conference or Workshop Item NonPeerReviewed application/pdf en http://irep.iium.edu.my/85238/1/Conference%20Paper%20Estimation%20of%20peak%20flow%20NAHRIM.pdf application/pdf en http://irep.iium.edu.my/85238/12/85238%20program%20book.pdf application/pdf en http://irep.iium.edu.my/85238/2/Cert%20ABDULLAH%20AL%20MAMUN%20IIUM.pdf Mamun, Abdullah Al and Abd Hakim, Nur Wajihah and Muhammad Rosli, Muhammad Hilmi and Salleh, Md.
