Description
Summary:Holistic healthcare, which is about caring for the whole person — appropriately attending to physical, mental, spiritual, and social needs, is one of the primary objectives of Shariah. This service protects the functioning of the human psyche and physics absorbs ingredients from the materials they consume, the environment they live in, and the overall environment they interact with. In its fundamental objectives, Shariah includes the preservation of body and environment (ḥifz al-nafs wa ḥifz al-bī’ah) as core elements. Unani medicine operates on the principles that highlight the importance ofperson's physical, mental, and spiritual realms. The primary purpose of this study is to explore how Unani medicine can be used for the fulfilment of maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah in terms of preserving physical, mental, and natural health. This study finds out that the Asbab-e-sittahzarooriah in Unani medicine is in line with the teachings of Shariah. Its systematic use of Unani medicine will be a great addition to the Halal and Toyyib medical industry.
