Zas Trading is a sole proprietor, 100% owned by bumiputera that run based on food manufacturing. The company is located at Lot 2259, Kampung Air Asahan, Batu Gajah, 17500, Tanah Merah, Kelantan. The owner of the business is Sarina Binti Jaafar and assisted by her daughter, Nurul Hafizah Binti Abdullah. This business focuses on producing frozen food service such as ‘Kueh Akok’, ‘Kueh Ambon’, ‘Karipap’, ‘Puteri Ayu’ and many more. This business also carries out catering and event decoration service as their side businesses. She starts her business in the year 1996 with an initial capital of RM 50 only. Then she sends her homemade ‘Kueh’ to stall nearby and the owner of the stall will sell it. After a few months selling the ‘Kueh’ unfortunately, Malaysia’s economy at that time drops caused sale of the business become slow. This affects her business since not many people want to buy her product and results surplus in products. She takes an initiative to store the surplus product in freezer to avoid it from damage. Fortunately, the food is in good conditions and can be eaten on the next day. Suddenly, she gets an idea to produce frozen food. At that time, frozen food is not well known yet by people and Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) just discover and want to introduce frozen food industry to local people. MARDI provides the workshop for those who interested to involve in this field.
