This chapter also highlights the scope, the significance of the study and the theoretical underpinning. Finally, a study framework is developed.
Sexual harassment is known as global phenomenon that affects all working class regardless of age, gender, social status, or work category. It can also occur in different setting of environment such as in the academic, public and workplace (Kamal et al, 2011). Before we look further into the issue, it is important to know the definition of sexual harassment. Sexual harassment defined as an unwelcome or uninvited behavior or sexual nature, which offensive, discomforting, threatening, or humiliating and may affect an employee's work performance, health, career or livelihood (Sabitha M., 2000). According to Zarizana and Celicia (2001), this term is not about personal relationships between men and women, but it is more to a situation that involved abusive of power, gender violence and as a violation of human rights. |
