To embroider is to “look, analyze, choose, explore and translate… to express yourself to create, innovate… to develop and elaborate. Creating interpretations of art from landscapes and nature by exploring colours, medium and composition are the main subjects in my artwork. The stitching retains the linear qualities of drawing and the layers creates depth and a reverberation as the image recedes in space. I had been working on a series of small, luminous colour combination are the basis for this series. The images were embroidered in different hues, their orientation and interaction form. ‘Unearthed Pleasure Series #1’ a journey of mine in exploring plants and flowers in an astounding development. It is native to Malaysia and Indonesia and grows in tropical and subtropical regions from Hawaii to the Congo and the Philippines. The torch ginger (Etlingera Elatior) is one of the most stunning blooms in the rainforest. The aesthetic of its colour, leaves, and blossoms of ornamenta l ginger plants are appealing and exotic. Only half of its brilliance is seen as it mesmerises on lookers with its remarkable appearance. Shooting straight up from the earth, layered with flaming bright pink, red, or orange petals. Bringing out the sumptuousness in its own right, it reminds us of our inner strength and individuality, which are sometimes overlooked. What we do, no matter where we are, will never change who we are.
