| Summary: | Traditional boat called ‘perahu’ is very popular among fishermen and ‘Perahu Payang’ is one of the popular boats in the east coast of Malaysia. Beach and this unique boat are two of the main identities of east coast social culture and lifestyle until now. ‘Perahu Payang’ is not only used as transportation but also used for the purpose of earning a living. It shows kindness to the local people from generation to generation. Full of colors just like our everyday life and beautified with intricate ornaments as a symbol of eccentric culture. The passage of time should not marginalize tradition but stand firm together to complement each other. Thus, this modern minimalist vector art represents the traditional boat in the modern era in maintaining tradition. The spacious blue in the artwork is to manifest the hope that this unique identity will remain forever and be continued by the new generation. ‘Gelora ombak menghakis pantai, tradisi ditinggal jangan sekali’. As beautiful as this poem is, and as beautiful as the heritage that we know it is. |
