Summary:School Based Assessment (SBA) is one of the government effort in making changes to assess the student achievement in producing holistic result of outcome in our education system includes assessing the cognitive, effective and psychomotor as to be in line with National Education Policy. The aim of this paper is to study the implementation of SBA system in Kota Kinabalu Secondary School. In this paper, we are only focusing the objectives which are the level knowledge of the teachers, teaching methods that were used by the teachers and the readiness of the teachers in implementing the SBA system. The types of sampling used was convenient sampling which mean that total sample of 118 teachers in secondary school around Kota Kinabalu were selected for this study. The instrument used was the distribution of questionnaires to the teachers for each school in Kota Kinabalu secondary schools. After collecting data from the questionnaires which has been answered, the data was analysed using the SPSS whereby the data will be analysed using both descriptive (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (mean and Chi-Square). The findings show that there are relationships between level of teacher knowledge and teacher readiness in the implementation of SBA since the result of finding shows significant value < 0.05. In conclusion, the implementation of SBA was associated with level of teacher knowledge as well as the teacher's readiness, meanwhile there are no relationship with teaching method used with teacher perspectives in implementation of SBA.
