Problems involving children are increasingly prevalent and often populated in the newspaper. Children's novels are one of the mediums in looking at the environment that helps the psychological development of children. Hence, a healthy environment can shape a balanced child in both the spiritual and physical development. Therefore, environmental aspects should be emphasized in children's novels to provide guidance not only to novel writers but also to the society. In the context of literary works, the environments surrounding childhood are manifested through individuals who surround children's lives. This analysis will show an environment surrounding the main character in the novel. This study applied one of the principles in Bronfenbrenner ecological theory (1979); a microsystem of analyzing texts. The method used in this study is library method and text analysis. The findings show that the environment surrounding children's lives affects the behavior of children. A healthy environment can produce balanced children in spiritual and physical aspects. This situation also manifests the importance of a healthy environment in the lives of children. Parents, friends, teachers and neighbors are important environment in influencing a child’s character. In conclusion, the environment in the children’s novel using the microsystems in ecological theory Bronfenbrenner (1979) can explain the influence of the environment on children in the novel Beruk.
