In this paper, we examine how ERM programs, particularly in risk assessment and corporate governance, impact firm performance. Our study focuses on 661 nonfinancial firms listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange to fill the gaps in the current ERM literature. We posit that ERM positively affects firm performance. We found that the frequency of risk assessments, the appointment of a chief risk officer and the formation of a risk management committee have a significant impact on firm performance. However, this study could not statistically identify the effect of ERM advancement on firm performance.
