The present study presents one of the most crucial reports of pharmaceutical assessment, and GC-MS/MS analysis of ethanolic extract of roots of S. lappa. Antimicrobial activities investigated by using conventional methodology against pathogenic microbial species alongside with appropriate controls of antimicrobial agents. Gas chromatographic-mass spectrometric analysis of Saussurea lappa roots ethanolic extracts operated for detection of bioactive elements. The extract of roots of Saussurea lappa exhibited considerable results for all antimicrobial experiments. Antimicrobial properties have been analyzed against five (5) pathogenic strains of bacteria and found to be most effective against S. typhimurium and B. subtilis with MIC value of 3.125 mg/ml. The GC-MS/MS analysis of ethanolic extract of roots of Saussurea lappa showed the existence of 42 bioactive compounds based on the area () and retention time (Rt). Of these, numerous compounds including Thunbergol, Trimethoxy resveratrol and Retinol have been reported for the first time. These results prove the traditional claims and findings in supporting credible baseline evidence for the pharmaceutical use of Saussurea lappa which mainly includes as skin products, food and dietary supplements. Further studies are incredibly crucial for separation and identification of particular bioactive compounds which are liable for pharmacological activities of the Saussurea lappa root. © 2021.
