Description
Summary:The purpose of this study was to evaluate symmetrical alternations in gait spatio-temporal parameters among athletes after ACL reconstruction. Motion analysis was used to analyze the gait of 22 athletes with ACL reconstruction at three different times of rehabilitation program and 15 healthy subjects. Asymmetry indexes of cadence, step length, weight acceptance time, and stance time (STT) were assessed. One way and repeated measure multivariate analyses of variance were applied to analyze the data. There was a significance difference (P = 0.007) in combination of measured variables of patients comparing to control group. Stance time asymmetry index was the only parameter that demonstrated a significant reduction from initial to final test (P = 0.004). By performing the rehabilitation program, asymmetry restoration of the gait spatio-temporal parameters towards the range of control group was achieved three months after ACL reconstruction. The results also suggested to consider the inter-correlation of parameters for gait improvement evaluation. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
