Summary: | Malaysia is stated under developing country and growth together with variety of infrastructure and facilities such as bridges, highways and buildings. To realize all of these, many undisturbed area were explored for engineering purposes. Kelantan which is located at East Malaysia also one of the developing states. One of the districts in Kelantan is Jeli. This area received a fast growing development since there was an opening of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Politeknik Jeli, and Sekolah Menengah Sains Jeli. The new opening area causes the exposure of an outcrop which is can be used as a building material if suitable and tall building can build on a bed rock (foundation) based on types of rock and their strength. The objective of this research is to determine the rock strength by using a Schmidt Rebound Hammer and identifying its suitability based on rock types and its characteristics. The method used in realizing this research including identifying problem, literature review, data collection from geological mapping and government agencies and analysis on petrographic data. |
