Study on washing condition and laundry performance using 50a Protease as a Detergent Additive

This study deals with the protease production and optimization of washing performance analysis of protease produced from E.coli BL21 (DE3) pLysS harbouring 50a protease gene. This enzyme is highly thermostable and active at high temperature with 70°C optimum temperature for washing. Optimum conditio...

This enzyme is highly thermostable and active at high temperature with 70°C optimum temperature for washing. Optimum conditions for washing studied were obtained through incubation of diluted protease at varied temperature (40-80°C). varied 50a protease concentration (5-25 mg/ml) and varied washing time (30-90 min). The optimum concentration of the 50a protease obtained is 15 mg/ml showing large enzyme activity at low concentration and the optimum washing time is only 45 minutes for effective washing. This experiment had proved that 50a protease showed compatibility and stability with commercial detergent Dyna Cleen, First Choice and Vanish. It was exposed that among different conditions of washing tested, the mixture of 50a protease in detergent exhibited better action by showing faintness of blood spot, chocolate spots, egg yolk spots and grass sap spots. The stains removal evaluation on different types of fabric obtained are as followed order: (nylon > satin > silk > cotton > linen), shows that fabrics types affects 50a protease effectiveness. 2015 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Nur Amalina, Roslan (2015) Study on washing condition and laundry performance using 50a Protease as a Detergent Additive.
