Geology and use of remote sensing and gis to extract surface water drainage patterns of streams in Sokor, Tanah Merah, Kelantan
This research is about the general geology and the extraction of surface water drainage pattern by using remote sensing and GIS in Sokor, Tanah Merah, Kelantan. The aim of this research is to produce the updated geological map of the study area in the scale 1: 35,000, to extract a precise drainage p...

The aim of this research is to produce the updated geological map of the study area in the scale 1: 35,000, to extract a precise drainage pattern of the streams in study area based on remote sensing and topographic map, and to assess the accuracy of the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) based on GPS point and photo-interpretation. The field work and investigation were done to collect the data about geology of the study area. The data include lithology and structural geology. Rock sample were collected in order to analyses the mineral content and laboratory studies. The drainage patterns were extracted by using two method and different sources. The first source is a topographic map while the second source is from DEM. The study area consist of two lithology which are schist and granite. Schist is belongs to Taku Schist formation in which the oldest formation in study area. While, granite forms as a intrusion during Triassic period. The accuracy of the drainage extracted from different sources were validating by using GPS point which known as ground control point. The result of the extraction show that drainage that produced from DEM was more accurate comparing to those extracted from topographic map with scaled 1:35,000. 2017 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Nurul Sofiana Syafril (2017) Geology and use of remote sensing and gis to extract surface water drainage patterns of streams in Sokor, Tanah Merah, Kelantan.
