Recently, most of all segments in humans’ life use aluminum, such as industry machinery, consumer durables and transportation [1-6]. With the modern demands of energy conservation and environment, recycled aluminum has been a great key for sustainability factors. Recycling aluminum has enabled the realization for less energy consumption in comparison to primary aluminum industries. It produces less greenhouse emission and has higher safety performance than the primary one. It can be recycled repeatedly without significant degradation. Achieving sustainable aluminum recycling manufacturing must use processes that minimize negative environmental impacts, converse energy and natural resources, safe for employees, communities, and consumers, and are economically sound. It should give some impact on human behavior without compromising or sacrificing present and coming generations need. In order to achieve sustainability in aluminum recycling industries, this paper gives one example about technology of used beverage cans recycling. Undesired elements affecting impurities of aluminum Recycling can influence energy considerations of the melt process. So, in this paper, an overview of the technologies available of sorting and impurity removal to improve aluminum scrap purity is also provided. 2013-12-21T03:31:10Z 2013-12-21T03:31:10Z 2012-06-18 Working Paper p. 22 - 33 978-967-5760-11-2 http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/30710 en Proceedings of the The 2nd International Malaysia-Ireland Joint Symposium on Engineering, Science and Business 2012 (IMiEJS2012);; Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)
