Glass dust waste creates chronic environmental problems, mainly due to the inconsistency of waste glass streams. Recycling is the best solution for the crisis resulting from huge volumes of wastes and includes economic and environmental benefits. With increasing environmental pressure to reduce solid waste and to recycle as much as possible, the concrete industry has adopted a number of methods to achieve this goal. The properties of concretes containing glass dust waste as fine aggregate were investigated in this study. Using glass dust waste in concrete is an interesting possibility for economy on waste disposal sites and conservation of natural resources. Compression strength for 7, 14 and 28 days concrete of age were compared with those of concrete made with natural fine aggregates. An overall quantity of glass dust waste was used as a partial replacement for sand at 10%, 20% and 50% of concrete mixes. The results proved highest strength activity given by glass dust waste after 28 days. The compressive strength of specimens with 10% glass dust waste content were 32.9373 MPa, higher than the concrete control specimen at 28 days. 2013-12-23T07:24:26Z 2013-12-23T07:24:26Z 2012-06-18 Working Paper p. 305 - 309 978-967-5760-11-2 http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/30780 en Proceedings of the The 2nd International Malaysia-Ireland Joint Symposium on Engineering, Science and Business 2012 (IMiEJS2012); Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) |
