The aim of this project is to develop a user friendly programme where seismic lateral force which also known as base shear force can be determine efficiently. The standards and conditions that used to obtain the base shear force value are based on EUROCODE 8: Design of Structures for Earthquake Resistance. In order to design this programme, a programming software, Microsoft Visual Basic Express Edition 2008 is chosen due to it convenience. Besides, this programme assembled conditions such as ground properties, structure properties and loading actions required for computing base shear force. The outcome of this programme is base shear force, in accordance to conditions and equations as stated in EURCODE 8. The overall result obtained from Base Shear Force Predictor is checked by manual calculation and the gain is considered satisfying. However, there are several limitations for Base Shear Force Predictor as this programme is not intended to do structural analysis design, but for the purpose of computing seismic lateral force for the base of building.
