For the past 10 years, flood had happened in Perlis many times. The area that involves with flood are Kangar, Chuping, Arau and Padang Besar. The title of this study is monitoring flood potential area at a river catchment. The objectives of this study are to determine the flood potential area and analyzing Total Suspended Solid (TSS) of river catchment. In this study, 6 points have been chosen. The 6 points is located at Sungai Jerneh, Sungai Panggas Limau, Sungai Serai, Sungai Buloh, Sungai Serai near a sugar cane area and Panggas river. The area of river catchment is near Bukit Keteri and Chuping. The parameters of this study are turbidity, total suspended solids and current flow. Equipments that were used are current meter, global positioning system, 2100N Turbidimeter and vacuum pump. The method of this study is first search the location of the river that is decided in the map. Then site visit of the river will be done at the 6 locations. After the site visit analysis is being done. The analysis is divided into two which are ex-situ and in-situ. Ex-situ means water sample that is taken is measured in lab while In-situ that is the measurement taken at the site. From the total suspended solids result the highest TSS reading is 25 mg/L at Sungai Panggas on week 8. The lowest TSS reading is 0.5 mg/L at Sungai Panggas on week 7. For turbidity in week 6 it rains heavily if compared to other weeks. Thus, it shows the highest turbidity for 6 points on week 6 if compared with other weeks. For week 6 the reading of turbidity is 30.5 NTU at Sungai Serai near a sugar cane area, 53.3 NTU at Sungap Panggas, 15.8 NTU at Sungai Jerneh 2, 32.4 NTU at Sungai Jerneh, 39.3 NTU at Sungai Buloh and finally 66.2 NTU at Sungai Serai. 2016-03-22T07:52:14Z 2016-03-22T07:52:14Z 2012-05 Learning Object http://dspace.unimap.edu.my:80/xmlui/handle/123456789/41202 en Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) School of Environmental Engineering
