Dye-sensitized solar cells (OSSCs) have attracted much attention in recent years for the lower fabrication cost coupled with outstanding photovoltaic conversion efficiency even under cloudy day compared to the conventional amorphous silicon-based solar cells. Dye-sensitized solar/'" cells possessed great stability and efficiency that even surpasses the modern thin film solar cells devices. Since 1991, ruthenium complex has been researched extensively to deliver high photo-to-energy conversion efficiency solar cells. Therefore. ruthenium(II) diimine complexes with methoxy (OCH3) (complex 3) and hydroxyl (OH) (complex 4) group as substituents were synthesized through condensation reaction and characterized via UVvisible. FTIR and lH NMR spectroscopy. Both complexes exhibits strong C=N absorption band and show photo-to-energy conversion ability. Complex 4 with better light absorption near IR region showed better photo-to-energy ability than complex 3.
