Synthesis of chalcone derivatives and their complexation study with gallium (III) bromide
This thesis reports the best strategy to etherify chalcones' derivatives a nd the complexation of the etherified chalcones toward ga llium(lII) bromide. Two etherification strategies on chalcones' derivatives have been studied. In Strategy 1, alkyl halide that consisting C3, C4 and C5 car...

Summary: | This thesis reports the best strategy to etherify chalcones' derivatives a nd the complexation of the etherified chalcones toward ga llium(lII) bromide. Two etherification strategies on chalcones' derivatives have been studied. In Strategy 1, alkyl halide that
consisting C3, C4 and C5 carbon chain were reac ted respectively with the , tarting material before the chalcone were synthesized. While, in Strategy 2, chalcones were synthesized at first and they were e therified using the ,imilar alkyl halide. The yields
obtained between two strategies were compared. At the e nd of the project, complexation of e therified cha lcones with gallium(III) bromide was carried o ut under inert condition. Al! synthesized compounds in this project were characteri zed using CHN analyzer; FTIR and IH NMR spectroscopy. From the yield obtained, the Strategy I can be concluded as the best strategy to produce the etherified chal one . The yield for strategy 1 and 2 can
be verified from 12.8 to 99.9%. However, the complexation reaction in this project was reported unsuccessful. |
