Jamal SB Plant culture Growing need of bioactive compounds for various applications has resulted in exploitation of Aloe barbadensis Miller (Aloe Vera). Recent studies reported that endophytes in plants are a source of bioactive compounds with numerous biochemical properties. Thus, the aim of this research study is to examine the biochemical properties and bioactive compounds secreted by endophytes isolated from Aloe Vera. A total of five isolates of endophytic fungi had been successfully isolated from the leaves of Aloe Vera. SI, S2, S3, and S4 were chosen for further morphological, microscopic and molecular characterization. Molecular characterization results revealed that Sl was Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, S2 and S3 were Colletotrichum trancatum, and S4 was Xylaria sp .. The isolates were tested on their ability in antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. Based on disk diffusion assay, Xylaria sp. and Colletotrichum trancatum showed antimicrobial inhibitory effect against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In terms of antioxidant activity, all isolates showed correlation ofpositive results in their phenolic and flavonoid total content and DPPH radical scavenging activity. It was revealed thatXylaria sp. conferred the highest antioxidant activity, followed by Colletotrichum trancatum, and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides with the lowest antioxidant activity.
