Summary:Urban forest is important because it assists in creating a good environment for human being to live in. Due to the roads expansion and the increasing area for parking lots, certain species may not be able to survive in that particular area because of the lack of space and land. Failure to identify the most suitable tree species for planting in the area may cause various negative impact directly or indirectly. A survey was carried out to assess the species selection and planting distance of urban trees at Tun Abang Haji Openg road, Tunku Abdul Rahman Yaakub road, Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce road, Bako road, Kolej road and Rock road. There are trees that was planted with ample planting spaces, however the same pattern at old planting sites were repeated again at new planting sites. The implications of species selection and the importance of recommended planting distance are discussed.
