This study aim to identify the inventory of vocal, consonant, and diphthong phonemes in Melanau Rajang dialect in Belawai. To achieve these objectives, the data was collected using field research method via interviews and also used 250 of the Swadesh list (Samarin, 1967:221). The selection of informants was based on Asmah Haji Omar (2001:48) which is two informants aged 40-60 years old were selected and different genders. In analysis data, qualitative method were used based on structural approaches. Eight vowel phonemes have been identified; four front vowels [i, e, ε, a]; one central vowel [ə]; and three back vowels 3 [u, o, ɔ]. There are 20 consonant phonemes in the inventory namely seven plosive [p, b, t, d, k, ɡ, ʔ]; two affricates [ʧ, ʤ]; three fricatives [s, ɣ, h]; four nasals [m, n, ɲ, ŋ]; one trill [r]; one lateral [l]; and two semi-vowels [w, j]. There are five diphthong have been identified namely [ay], [aw], [uy], [ey], and [oy]. Besides that, the distribution/alternation of all vowel, consonant and diphthong phonemes in Melanau Rajang dialect in Belawai are also discussed in this study.
