Summary: | The COVID-19 pandemic has been shown to have psychological consequences on individual
regardless age, gender, marital status and job status. Coping mechanisms is important to
decrease the negative impacts of COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, the main objective of this
research is to identify on coping mechanisms (positive reinterpretation and growth, active
coping, denial, use of emotional social support, acceptance) and perceived stress among
working individuals during COVID-19 pandemic. The location that has been selected to conduct this study is at Bengoh Resettlement Scheme
(BRS), Kuching, Sarawak with sample size of 32 respondents among working individuals. The Statistical Package for Social Science (SSPS) has been used to run the reliability analysis, the normality analysis, and the inferential analysis such as Independent Sample T-Test, One-Way ANOVA, Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression. The result of this research found that there is no significant differences in perceived stress
among working individuals based on gender, age and marital status. Besides, the coping
mechanisms such as positive reinterpretation and growth, active coping,use of emotional
social support and acceptance is significantly correlated with perceived stress. Only denial is
not significantly correlated with perceived stress. Next, use of emotional social support is the
dominant coping mechanisms that influence perceived stress among working individuals. The
implication, limitations and recommendations also have been discussed to solve the issue in
this research and improve the related research in the future from various perspective. |
