ESI also plays an important role in ensuring that Malaysia is able to fulfil its aim of attaining the knowledge economy status by year 2020. As one of the entities operating in ESI which is a knowledge-intensive industry, it is essential for electricity companies to optimise their organisational knowledge. Knowledge audit can be used as the mechanism to assist electricity companies to assess their current and future knowledge provisions and requirements. This paper discusses on the analysis performed on the empirical data collected from two (2) main electricity companies in Malaysia. It can be observed that several improvements are proposed to be undertaken by the companies in ensuring that their organisational knowledge are appreciated, exploited, valued and preserved. It is hoped by adopting a formal knowledge resource assessment, namely knowledge audit, electricity companies in Malaysia will be able to generate and produce electricity for the nation in more effective, efficient and prudent manner.
