Summary: | The application of nanofiltration (NF) technology in wastewater treatment is promising for water recycling, reuse, and product recovery due to its high selectivity for divalent/polyvalent ions while permitting monovalent ions and small molecules (<100 Da) transport. This chapter discusses the case studies of NF application for treating various types of wastewater including those from agriculture activities, domestic and industrial sources such as food, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, textile, mining, as well as pulp and paper industries. The discussion covers the aspect of NF efficacy as a stand-alone treatment or as part of an integrated process for fouling mitigation and separation performance enhancement. The performance of integrated processes in terms of product recovery or capability to attain permeate with reusable water criteria is also highlighted. 2024 selection and editorial matter, Abdul Wahab Mohammad, Teow Yeit Haan and Nidal Hidal |
