Description
Summary:Abnormal behaviour and marked reddish skin discoloration ventrally and marked congestion of visceral organs were observed in the catfish (Clarias macrocephalus) fry kept in nursery tanks. Mortality rate was high at 80 percent. Bacteriological and histopathological studies were conducted. Aeromonas hydrophila and occasionally Pseudomonas spp. were isolated. Histologically severe congestion were observed in most organs suggesting a septicemia condition. Detailed histopathological changes are discussed.
