Penyelidikan tentang identiti latar langit sesebuah bandar memerlukan pemahaman terperinci terhadap setiap aspek pembentukannya kerana elemen fizikal tersebut penting dalam proses interpretasi identiti latar langit sesebuah bandar. Oleh itu, pemilihan Bandar George Town untuk mengenalpasti identiti latar langitnya adalah satu pilihan yang tepat kerana ia terbentuk daripada kombinasi elemen semulajadi dan buatan manusia yang memiliki pelbagai kepentingan estatika, budaya dan sejarah. Research on the identity of a city’s skyline requires thorough and detailed understanding of each aspect that leads to its formation. The most important aspect is the physical element in the interpretation process of the identity of a city. Hence, the choice of George Town city in order to ascertain its skyline identity is appropriate as its formation is the result of the combination of natural elements and man-made ones which have varying factors of aesthetic significance, cultural significance and historical significance. Based on these significant physical elements, George Town’s skyline can be identified from the visual experience which is obtained through the observation method undertaken in this study.
