Graphene is able to improve the performance, function, and durability of various applications but the commercialization of graphene still requires further research. This study examined the use of graphene in energy storage devices including supercapacitors, batteries, and fuel cells. Therefore, various studies examining graphene and its applications have been investigated. Supercapacitors are highly attractive energy storage devices that provide huge amounts of energy and high-power density that can meet the ever-increasing energy demand in the global. Graphene materials have received tremendous attention as attractive anode materials for use in batteries due to their distinctively fascinating physicochemical properties. These good graphene features must be further expanded and improved in order to be worthy for further applications. Furthermore, these graphene materials can be used to improve the performance and durability in the most promising energy storage solutions, namely fuel cells. Here, a comprehensive review of graphene electrode materials for supercapacitors, batteries, and fuel cells is presented which summarizes in detail the main recent literature from the obtained morphology or structure to their electrochemical performance as the electrode material. More importantly, this review will promote the basic understanding and further development of graphene materials as electrode materials in energy storage devices.
